Eye Makeup Guide – 5+1 Steps

Having finished cleansing & moisturizing your face, you are ready to emphasize the most important point before continuing with the rest of your face makeup… your eyes. See below for everything you'll need and check it out video for 4 unique shadow application techniques!

1. Eye Primer

If you don't want to smear yourself with shadows and constantly have to correct your makeup, choose a primer eyes. It stabilizes the make-up making it last longer.

You can apply it all over the eye area either with your finger or with a small brush.

2. Eye Shadows

Choose 2-3 shades of eyeshadow for greater detail and to give depth to your eyes. You can choose your eyeshadow shades individually or choose from eyeshadow palettes for sure shade matching.

Apply one first nude shade which will act as a canvas and dab it all over the upper lid with a fluffy makeup brush. Start at the inner corner of each eye and work outwards.

If you choose to stay in 2 shades of shadows, apply a darker shade to the inner corner of the eye and extend slightly outward.

If you choose 3 shades of shadows, put the dark shade on the outer corner of the eyes and a lighter shade on the inner corner of the eyes. Make sure the shades are related for a harmonious mix and a beautiful result.

3. Eyeliner for contouring

Eyeliner Eye Makeup

It is definitely one of your favorite products! You apply carefully from the inner corner of the eyes outwards, along the upper eyelid. Maybe you want to give it a little more length for a more "feline" look.

If you want a more intense - and especially smokey - look, use an eye pencil on the lower lid.

4. Eyelash curling

Eyelash curling

Before moving on to the must-have eye makeup product (as you'll see below), use one eyelash scissors to give your eyelashes the perfect curve. In other words, do a little lash lift at home.

After placing it correctly, press carefully onto your lashes for about 8 seconds and hold firmly, pointing the scissors upwards.

5. Mascara for perfect eyelashes

Mascara, eye makeup

Yes, it's time for mascara! The intensity that the right mascara gives to the eyes completely changes the whole face, giving volume and shine to the eyes, giving an even more youthful appearance!

What to watch out for before applying mascara

  1. Give volume to your eyelashes without weighing them down. You will achieve this by starting from the roots and spreading towards the ends.
  2. To prevent the eyelashes from sticking together, leave a few seconds of space before each layer (2-3 at most).
  3. If you find that the brush holds a large amount of mascara, dab it on a tissue before applying to the lashes for an even and natural result.

6. Eyeshadow and Eyebrow Pencil

Eyebrow pencil

For well-shaped and full eyebrows that will lock the frame of your face, do not forget to apply a shadow (with your finger or a fresh brush) or a eyebrow pencil.

Tip:: no to exaggerations. You want your eyebrows to have a natural look - both in shape and color - highlighting your eyes and face.
